Meet Debbie Exall, our Senior Business Support Manager and next in our Meet the Team series. Debbie is a daily sea swimmer and come rain or shine, hasn’t missed a day this year!
So, tell us about your role
Well I head up the Business Support team and HR which is a team of five. My team has a range of responsibilities, from keeping the office lights on, to procurement of client devices and everything else in between. When I joined the business eight years ago, there was no Business Support team. Over the years, I‘ve developed this into one of the key parts to the business. As the company grows, so do our roles and knowledge, to enable us to expand the support we can give the company. We are all excited about being part of a growing company.
I also enjoy being part of the Senior Leadership Team which helps drive the business forward.
What technology can you not live without at work?
I have one hardware and one software. First off, my two screens; I find it impossible to work with one now. Even home needs to be two! I also can’t live without Teams. I know lots of my colleagues have mentioned it already but it really is amazing and has made it so easy to communicate with people and has been an absolute lifesaver when we’ve also been working from home because of lockdowns. With some of the accounting work I perform, I still find it beneficial to stay at home some days to get things done.
What outside of work technology can you not live without?
My iWatch apps: I love being able to keep track of everything on my watch. It’s useful to not have my iPhone glued to my hand all the time but I still know when I have a message which I can quickly read and respond to without being compelled to spend the next 20 minutes on Facebook.
What do you like about working at Resolution IT?
The ability to have a free reign, to give my own ideas and challenge others without repercussion…. within reason of course! I also love the friendly nature of everyone in the company; there is always a great atmosphere in the office.
Any tech predictions?
When I started my career, we didn’t have any computers - I wrote in ledgers with a pencil and filed bits of paper in big heavy cabinets! I remember being shown how to use a mouse when they first came out; it was amazing! Now I have shown my age, it stands to reason that any new technology would help me in my quest for a quiet life...although at the rate the company is expanding, I don’t think that will be any time soon!
