I’m so excited to find a new button in Outlook that allows sharing an email into a chat. I’ve always found it useful to post an email into a channel and now I’m so pleased that I can post an email into a chat message too.
There’s been so many times when I’ve needed to do this but couldn’t and then ended up having a conversation between Teams and Outlook or had to copy and paste information across. I’ve even seen people accidentally Reply All in Outlook with an internal discussion – not realising they’ve also replied to the external recipients!
Teams is so much easier to have back-and-forth conversations (e.g., discussing an email request). If we use Teams for our internal discussions it’s then easier to find messages, rather than looking across two different tools.
Therefore, use Teams to discuss an email and when you have the answer go back to Outlook to reply to the original message.
To use this new feature: -
Select the email you would like to share in Microsoft Teams and then select the Share to Teams button on the ribbon
- Start typing the name of the person in the Share to box and Teams will come up with some suggestions. It will even show group chats available with that person.
- Include attachments tick box is selected by default if the message contains attachments.
How simple and convenient is that?!
